How do I find my room?
Are you looking for a room in Nijmegen or Arnhem? Then you’re in the right place with SSH&. We allocate our rooms and other types of housing through a lottery so you have a chance every week! We post vacant rooms and other types of housing on our offer page every Wednesday at 12.00 pm. You can respond until the following Wednesday at 11.00 am. Bear in mind, you can only respond to one ad per week. After that, the rooms and other types of housing are allocated through the lottery system.
How does the lottery system work then?
A draw is made every week between everyone who signed up for a particular ad. This is done using a lottery system; this system chooses completely randomly. This is less error prone and 100% fair. We want everyone to have a chance for a room or a student house, which is why we’ve chosen this system. Everyone has just one chance and so has an equal chance of getting a room.
What should you look out for when viewing the ads?
What should you pay attention to when looking at rooms and other types of housing? And how do you know which one suits you best? We’ve got some tips for you here:
- Determine what your budget is so you know what you can manage in terms of monthly expenses. Is a room or house to high for your budget? Leave it out.
- Think about where you want to live in the city. Do you want a quiet neighbourhood? Or do you want to live close to the night life?
- Think about what furniture you want to bring with you. You can check if it’ll fit into the room.
- Start thinking about what kind of property you’re looking for beforehand. Want a shared living room? Or would you prefer something quieter, and are you after an independent room?
- Always look at how the property is maintained.
